Under Direction, the Technical Support Specialist maintains the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN); maintains hardware and software and licensing; documents network configuration; and performs related tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain LAN and WAN infrastructures including, but not limited to, servers, personal computers, thin clients, software and peripherals
  • Participate in the development of policies, procedures, and resources in regards to the LAN and WAN
  • Pull cable and rewire workstations as required for new installations and office reconfigurations
  • Manage network services including, but not limited to, Active Directory, Desktop Authority, and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)
  • Review and recommend network security policy enhancements
  • Install and maintain remote connectivity to offsite facilities utilizing technologies such as hardware and software VPNs, web based interfaces, Citrix
  • Provide end-user support for all network related issues 
  • Manage backup, antivirus, and employee internet management (EIM) solutions
  • Configure and install desktop computers
  • Install and maintain local and networked printers
  • Document specific duties, activities, and problems solved in help desk software.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor
